For those of us that didn’t have the fancy dinner invites, or the family gatherings; we all came together for a movie and our own family style feast. Of course we all knew that watching the Hobbit would result in waiting another year to find out the ending, but we all put our 3D glasses on, sat back and relaxed for almost 3 hours. Best part was the dinner afterwards at a fancy Chinese restaurant nearby, where we all ordered a dish and shared them all. We certainly left with warm hearts and full bellies after that. Conversation was great and the company couldn’t have been better.

We had an amazing bowling party on Saturday, full of festive fun and the ugliest of Christmas Sweaters!! Bowling is always a blast, as we never take it very seriously, of course we have lots of great bowlers, but even gutter balls get cheers and high fives with this group. Almost all of us sported an ugly sweater, and there were candy canes a plenty for all that signed in. Some took a bunch of time to get their sweater for the evening and others added embellishments to an old ugly sweater for the season. We had tinsel and ornaments all around us by the end of the night, and as our timed bowling was almost over, we even had some members show up to go to out dancing with the group afterwards. Ugly Christmas Sweater Bowling Party success!! Thanks to everyone that got into the festive cheer a little early and as always had great team play!

Do you remember your gym class teacher or coach always saying to yourself or teammate when you were younger, not to say you couldn’t do it, because chances are you could. Well, the saying of the night at our Ariel silks class a couple weeks ago, was just that....”I can’t do that?”. And as if that coach was standing right there, we sure could. The night was filled with laughs and things most of us had never tried. Starting with making a simple knot in our silks, to trying an upside down move hanging just from one leg.
Jen from Tantra Fitness was amazing, warming us up with some aerobics and then teaching us some mind bending moves. We even got to hang in our own cocoons and relax for a bit when we were finished. Truly an amazing workout and tonnes of fun!! We all went out for a bite to eat afterwards and enjoyed each other’s company for a while longer. Thanks girls for an amazing event. For the 18th year in a row E&A headed north and took over Whistler for American Thanksgiving weekend. When the party bus arrived on Thursday, the 28theveryone was greeted with a fantastic and filling traditional Thanksgiving feast complete with homemade pies. This kicked off the party weekend as the group descended on Buffalo Bills for a night of dancing. While the weather was not totally cooperative, that did not keep the skiers off the mountain as they were there when the wheels began to turn in the morning.
Both days Jodie was hard at work in the kitchen creating fresh baked goods for breakfast and hosted après skies for everyone in the afternoon along with Rob as her co-host. Members got to compare stories of what they did during the day while also planning for evening dinners and activities. All too soon it was Sunday and time to head home to the states (or back to Vancouver). Another great trip to the great white north!
An amazing night at Vancouver Olive Oil Company. Everyone showed to our private tasting and learned how good oils are processed and pressed. Tasting all the different flavors of both oils and balsamics is such a treat, the only problem is choosing which ones you really want to take home. The pairings are endless. So delicious, and so much fun deciding. Best part of that is 10% of our proceeds go to the Canucks for their Kids charity. Way to go guys...tonight we raised $60 for the kids! Seeing that we have already celebrated Thanksgiving here in Canada, it was fitting that we visited Kitchen Riddles in Burnaby last night and made a gourmet feast of our own. Getting instruction from Chef Ben and being looked after by owners Antonio and Morgan, we surely dined in style last night!! While some of us do cook and have some chopping skills, not all of us knew the fancy names of certain dicing techniques, nor did we know how easy it was to make our own ricotta, (and cheaper). We started by dicing and chopping mushrooms, shallots & garlic and added Ricotta to make our very own ravioli stuffing. Next, getting our pasta thin enough to make ravioli, all kinds of shapes, some stuffed more than others, but all delicious. Topped with a arugula salad we took our plated upstairs to dine together in candlelight!! Once we were finished our main, we made our way back down to the kitchen to learn how to make a delicious and rich, melting Chocolate Lava cake, of course with hand whipped cream flavored with Bailey’s. Now the pictures tell the true story – we are really big goofballs when it comes to cleaning up bowls and spoons with deliciousness all over!! Couldn’t have been tastier or more fun!! We all left with full tums and a little more knowledge of how easy it is to cook really yummy food...Yum Yum!
